LOL…now you know why I’m Terry instead of Terri or Terrence instead of Terrance. (and my Dad now writes it Terrance….)
I have a friend named Stephanie whom I called Stevie once…ONLY once…LOL

Just to further the Stephan/Stephanie thing my grandma called me Stevie when I was a kid, sometimes even Stevenie, she still calls me Stevie.
My stepdad was Steven spelled Stephan, that’s why I asked

See my reply to Deanna. You know, I think they should not allow people to make up new spellings for their traditional names. I mean, Jaci should be pronounced Jay-cee (but I’ll kill you if you do!! And I mean you, Buster!!) and Jackie should be spelled Jacqui…

Hi Deanna,

I’m making a distinction between Stephen (Steven) (long ‘e’) and Stephan (short ‘e’ – like Stephanie). I was always taught that if the name had the ‘a’ in it, it is pronounced with the short ‘e’. But people go around spelling names any old whichway these days, like Jaci.

Grandpa looks like he’s having fun. I see you haven’t figured out how to get yourself into the photos yet….heh heh.
Well, that’s the English language for you….Stephan should be pronounced f not v, but…..then again Binder and Binder pronounce their names with a short i, which would make binding (eye) things together binding (short i)….sheesh. just be glad no one says Stevenie. LOL
