It's a guy thing. They don't like flowering stuff cause it "drops blooms" all over. They really like Mowing!! I fight with Jerry about that every year.

I too have Hollyhocks, bachelor buttons & snapdragons.
But my hollyhocks got terrible Hollyhock beetles this year and they ate all the buds and leaves, it looks TERRIBLE!!

My mother used to make dolls out of the Hollyhock ladies when she was a child.
Don't you just love taking pics of the garden this time of year?

He would probably have a cow if he knew I purposely plant hollyhocks, bachelors buttons & snapdragons. And that I love black-eyed susans. I hated pulling all the flowers, but more than that - I hated the salt grass. We did finally eliminate all the flowers (!!!) but we never did get rid of the salt grass.

Such a beautiful assortment, Jaci! I am sorry that I can't help with the I.D part either, but I sure have enjoyed your picture show on them and the info about the ones that you shared with us. That Datura Lilac is so exquisite! My favorite.

Besides mowing the Hollyhocks, we had to pull all the Bachelor Buttons, Black-Eyed Susans, SnapDragons and other flowers from the median between the house and the street. (those were the only ones I can remember the names of, there were LOTS at the WMCA house!!) Hmmmmm, maybe....nevermind....
Glad you got them identified!!

THANK YOU, Linda! I thought the one might be in the borage family (since it resembles the borage I have elsewhere in my garden). I really appreciate that you took the time to find them for me. :)

Hi Jacki,

The pink one is Rose Campion - the botanical name is lychnis coronaria . It's perennial.

The blue star one is Borragine - borago officinalis. A marvelous herb-type plant with lots of medicinal qualities. It's annual.

Jodi's sister,
